The Dubai International Financial Centre announced on Tuesday that it has received a letter of intent from international insurance firm, Aon about its application for an operating licence.
Speaking in response to the letter, Naser Nabulsi, chief executive officer of the DIFC, announced that:
"The Company's intention to apply for a licence represents further resounding endorsement of the DIFC's commitment to develop a world class international insurance and reinsurance centre, serving not just Dubai and the UAE, but the region as a whole."
The DIFC also received a similar letter from Credit Suisse this week. Joe Straehle, the financial services firm's Asia Pacific, Middle East, America, Eastern and Northern Europe CEO explained that:
"We have closely examined the model of the Dubai International Financial Centre and, based on our positive evaluation, have decided to issue a letter of intent. We are convinced of the growth potential of this dynamic region and are very strongly committed to it."
