The Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), has published a new guide for Canadian hedge fund managers which seeks to provide guidance on all aspects of the industry from creating a hedge fund to administration and structure.
The Canadian guide, entitled ‘Sound Practices for Canadian Hedge Fund Managers’, provides information on issues such as Hedge fund investment process, Portfolio Risk Management, Administration and Operations control and hedge fund structure and organization. However, AIMA points out that the guide is not intended to establish a definitive set of standards forming the basis of hedge fund conduct.
The report has been modeled on a similar guide produced for the European hedge funds industry compiled in 2002 which was written in conjunction with hedge fund managers and has been considered very successful.
Founded in 1990, AIMA is a not-for-profit trade association dedicated to representing the world’s alternative investment community. Spanning 42 countries on five continents, its primary objectives are to increase investor education, transparency and promote due diligence and related best practices.
