AIB Investment Mangers has announced that its Multimanager Managed Fund is now available to individual investors. The Fund provides access to top performing funds from leading investment management companies in an overall portfolio of equity, fixed interest and property assets.

Previously, the Fund, which has a current value of over EUR174 million, was confined to pension fund investors. Since its launch in December 2003, claims AIB, the Multimanager Managed Fund has proved to be one of the top performing pension managed funds in the industry, returning over 37% after all fees and expenses have been paid.

The Fund operates as an authorised unit trust with subscribed units being pooled together. AIB Investment Managers selects and monitors the investment companies that are responsible for the management of the Fund.

Among the ‘Best in Class’ global investment managers chosen for the program are Schroders, INVESCO, Legg Mason and Merrill Lynch.

"By choosing from a large universe, we ensure that the very best investment expertise from around the world manages the Fund," explained James Leen, Head of Product Management.

"The Multimanager Fund allocates its investments among a number of managers so that we reap the benefits of having the Fund managed by a diverse pool of skills and talent. This is also extremely important in controlling risk. Furthermore, we constantly monitor how these investment managers are performing and if we believe that one manager is likely to outperform another, then the allocation to each can be altered accordingly," he added.

Mr Leen observed that this approach has resulted in a "phenomenal return" being achieved since the Fund's launch two years ago.

The AIB Multimanager Managed Fund is now being made available to individual investors as part of a special range of investment funds offered by AIB Private Banking.
