The Association of Bi-National Chambers of Commerce in Florida (ABiCC) has approved membership for the newly created Costa Rica-US Chamber of Commerce, it has been announced.
In a presentation to the board of directors of ABiCC, the President of the Costa Rican chamber, Mr. Gerardo Borbon spoke of the country's business opportunities. The chamber has already gained 43 members less than one month after opening.
The President of ABiCC, Mrs. Lita Haeger, observed that:
"The creation of the Costa Rica-US Chamber of Commerce opens new business opportunities with this country, a fact that is especially important at this moment, since the approval of a free trade agreement with Central America is a very important issue for the whole region. We therefore have the opportunity to play an important role in promoting business and investment opportunities with Costa Rica."
She added that:
"The existence of a Costa Rican chamber in Florida will facilitate the access to information on these opportunities offered by this beautiful country that is only a few hours' flight from Miami. ABiCC, together with its diverse representation of international business communities in Florida, is strongly supportive of the approval of the DR-CAFTA, the free trade agreement between the Central American countries, the Dominican Republic and the USA. Stability in the region will only be possible with economic prosperity through free trade."
The ABiCC is the umbrella organization for 44 bi-national chambers of commerce, which together have approximately 8000 international business members representing countries from all continents.
