The 5th Annual Bahamas Investment Conference is due to commence on November 5 and this year’s event will feature speakers from the Bahamian government as well as from the jurisdiction’s financial and business community.
The conference, which began in 1999, is used as a forum to examine both the performance of publicly traded companies and the country’s investment environment, in addition to focusing on domestic investment vehicles such as stocks, pension funds and real estate, reports the Nassau Guardian.
The keynote speaker at the event will be Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Michael Halkitis who will present a talk entitled ‘Options and Issues for the Bahamas Financial Investor.’ The Guardian reports that other notable speakers include John Rolle, Senior Economist at the Central Bank of The Bahamas; Keith Davies, Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, BISX; Thomas Bain, former Managing Director of JP Morgan and Chairman of the BahamaTel Consortium; Garth Buckner, President of the Bahamas Real Estate Association; and Anthony Robinson, Managing Director of FOCOL.
