Swiss Patent Publication Procedure Goes Fully Electronic
by Ulrika Lomas, for LawAndTax-News.com, Brussels

03 June 2008

According to the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property, as of 1st July, patents will no longer be published in the Swiss patent gazette.

In an announcement published on Tuesday, the Institute explained that the legally effective publication of granted patents and modifications in the register will become exclusively electronic, via the Institute’s intellectual property database.

As a result of this change, in June and July 2008 the Institute will grant Swiss patents only once a month: the last publication in the patent gazette will be on 25th June, 2008 while the first exclusive electronic publication of granted Swiss patents will take place on 31st July, 2008.

Electronic publication on the swissreg.ch database of modifications in the patent register, however, will commence at the beginning of July.
