Two significant partner promotions have taken place at PricewaterhouseCoopers
in the Channel Islands, it emerged this week.
Philip Taylor, formerly Senior Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers CI LLP, has
been made Leader of Global Quality Assurance for the PwC international network
of firms, whilst Steve Le Page moves from being the Senior Partner in Charge
of the Guernsey office to become Senior Partner for PwC Channel Islands, the
firm announced.
In his new position, Mr Taylor will head up a team responsible for assessing
quality across all of PwC’s assurance business worldwide, reporting to
the Global Leadership Team.
Mr Taylor has 37 years of experience in auditing and accountancy. A move to
the Channel Islands in 1985 coincided with his admission to the Partnership
at PwC. He was appointed Senior Partner in 1992 and played a key role in managing
the merger with Coopers & Lybrand in 1997, becoming Senior Partner of the
newly formed PricewaterhouseCoopers Channel Islands firm.
Commenting on his past and new roles, Mr Taylor stated that:
“Much of my enthusiasm over the years has been derived from helping people
reach their potential and develop through the PwC network. With its unique position
at the heart of international financial services, PwC in the Channel Islands
is a formidable intellectual powerhouse, something of which I am immensely proud."
"I am particularly excited about this global appointment as it recognises
the quality of the standards that we set for ourselves in Jersey and Guernsey.”
As part of his new role, meanwhile, Steve Le Page will take on overall responsibility
for developing the firm’s tax business in Jersey and Guernsey. He will
also maintain close contact with offices in PwC’s global network to ensure
that the Channel Islands practice remains at the forefront of global finance.
Born and educated in Guernsey, Mr Le Page has more than 25 years of accountancy
experience, having joined Coopers & Lybrand in 1980. In 1999 he was appointed
Partner in Charge of the Guernsey practice of the then merged firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Throughout his career, Mr Le Page has been involved in a number of innovative
developments within Guernsey’s finance industry, including helping develop
the now popular Protected Cell Company (PCC) structure.
He commented:
“I have spent a significant amount of time working in both Jersey and
Guernsey and believe that this is an exciting time for PwC in the Channel Islands.
Philip has led the firm to great achievements in the last 10 years, and it will
be an advantage to still have access to his knowledge and global insight.
"I am very much looking forward to leading a highly qualified and skilled
team of staff across the islands as we develop further innovative services and
continue to fly the local flag at an international level.”
