PartyGaming Facing Lawsuit From Former Partner
by Ulrika Lomas, for LawAndTax-News.com, Brussels

07 December 2005

Internet gaming group Empire Online announced this week that it has commenced legal proceedings in the Gibraltar High Court against former partner and current flavour of the month, PartyGaming.

The former firm has reportedly lost more than half of its market value since PartyGaming put in place an arrangement which ring-fenced its own online poker players from those of other sites which use its software, and which include Empire Online.

Before the move in October, players on the external sites, known as 'skin sites', competed against a substantially bigger pool of participants, which included those using PartyGaming's own site.

Empire Online stated on Tuesday that:

"The company seeks substantial damages and injunctive relief from PartyGaming."
