South American online law firm, Abogadovirtual,
has launched an e-business centre in Costa Rica offering business services
such as digital copying, printing, Internet facilities, legal representation,
conference rooms, an international restaurant and (last but certainly
not least) two bars that are open 24 hours a day.
According to a news report from the BNamericas
online news service, Abogadovirtual has sunk US$2 million into the centre,
based in San Jose, and chose Costa Rica because of the big American firms
that already operate there as well as the advantageous customs and taxation
regime.
Chief executive officer of Abogadovirtual,
Nattan Nisimblat, told BNamericas: 'The company's idea is to create a
brick-and-mortar office to make the concept of a virtual attorney a reality.'
The firm charges US$19 for basic enquiries
and there are fees, as yet unknown, that are charged to other lawyers
who wish to use the service as well as to offline law firms who offer
the Abogadovirtual service.
Abogadovirtual was launched in June last
year and has an operation in America and several throughout South America
including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama,
Peru, Venezuela and Uruguay. Further e-business centres are due to be
opened in July next year in Puerto Rico, Mexico and Miami.
