OECS Announces Second Annual Development Conference
by Philip Morton, Investors Offshore.com

04 April 2008

The Second Annual OECS Development Conference is being hosted in St Vincent and the Grenadines, running this Thursday and Friday, 2008 at the country's Young Island Resort.

Attending the Conference are the Premier of British Virgin Islands, the Chief Minister of Anguilla and the Prime Ministers of Antigua and Bermuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, and host Country St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Director General of the OECS indicated recently that the member state leaders had made a decision to focus on building the Creative Industires in the OECS, in an attempt to further "grow" and diversify the economic base, and revealed that for this reason, "well placed persons" from the world of music and film in Canada and the USA will participate in the Conference.

The overriding objective of the Conference is to provide an ongoing forum for persons engaged in the music and film industries both within the OECS and outside to network and discuss the challenges faced by the industries in the OECS.

The meeting will also provide an opportunity to strategise on the development of a Plan of Action, leading to the structured and comprehensive development of the music and film industries in the region, through the development of regional and international partnerships.
