Norway And Croatia Accede To European Patent Convention

The European Patent Office (EPO) has this week announced that Norway and Croatia have both acceded to the European Patent Convention.

Acording to the EPO, the instruments of ratification of the EPC were deposited by the Norwegian authorities on October 5, and by the government of Croatia on October 31.

Accordingly, the Convention will enter into force in both countries on January 1, 2008.

Following these latest accessions, the European Patent Organisation will comprise the following 34 member states as from 1 January 2008:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
