Liechtenstein Government To Shell Out 2 Million Francs For Online Portal
by Ulrika Lomas, Tax-News.com, Brussels

08 November 2001

According to reports in the online edition of the Liechtensteiner Vaterland this week, the government of the principality is poised to approve the allocation of around 2 million Francs for the development of 'Virtual House Liechtenstein', an online portal designed to inform visitors on all aspects of life and business in the offshore jurisdiction.

The initiative was announced recently by Florian Krenkel, advisor to the Princely House, who explained that the objective was to counter the sometimes negative opinion held of the principality. 'I consider it excellent that government decided, along with various administering bodies, to establish a platform which will allow Liechtenstein to present itself the way it wishes to be perceived from abroad,' he said at the time.

'Virtual House Liechtenstein' is set to go live on the 1st January 2002, and can be found at www.Liechtenstein.li. However, it is unclear as to whether the new one-stop portal will replace the existing official website which can presently be found at that address.
