Jersey Tax Deadline Passes
by Robert Lee, Tax-News.com, London

11 December 2002

Jersey's Comptroller of Income Tax, Malcolm Campbell announced this week that over 7,000 Island residents now face legal action after failing to settle their income tax liabilities in time.

Reporting this week, the Jersey Insight news service revealed that those who have missed last week's deadline, either deliberately or inadvertently, will face a 10% surcharge on top of what they owe.

Mr Campbell explained that a summons for the amount will now be issued to all 7,000 defaulters, and that any legal costs incurred during the process of settlement will also be payable by the taxpayer in question.
