Italy's 3G Operators Denied Tax Cut
by Ulrika Lomas, Tax-News.com, Brussels

Italian daily newspapers La Repubblica and Milano Finanza have reported that the country's five 3G license holders will not receive any tax breaks after Communication Minister, Maurizio Gasparri, announced that 'current finances do not allow us to satisfy such a request.'

The announcement came on Wednesday this week after a meeting between the Communication Minister and the 3G operators (TIM, Omnitel, Wind, Ipse and H3G) and although he stood firm on tax cut requests from the operators, the Minister compromised with a pledge to ensure that the frequencies to test the technology would be available in line within an agreed timetable.
