Irish Stockbroker Launches Investor Education Programme

21 December 2000

The Irish Financial Services Centre in Dublin was the setting this week for the launch of NCB Stockbrokers' new online stockbroking educational programme entitled "Invest for Success" which aims to target retail investors, both experienced and novice alike.

"Invest for Success", says NCB, provides comprehensive details on all aspects of dealing on the stock market, from predicting company performance and reading economic indicators to trading ethics and regulations. The programme is structured into three sections: The Knowledge Portfolio, The Web Investor and The Successful Investor, and provides a glossary of terms and tips on each subject matter.

At the launch was Mr John Kielthy, head of NCB Stockbrokers' retail division, who commented: 'The launch of "Invest for Success" is the latest initiative in the planned roll out of our internet strategy. Our strategy is not only to provide clients with the capacity to deal online, but to also provide them with the knowledge base to be able to make informed investment decisions.'

The programme was developed by software firm Intuition Publishing, whose chief executive, David Harrison, said: 'Education is vital if consumers are to become successful investors. Considering the present climate of bearish international sentiment, it has never been more important for private investors to be better informed and to understand the advice and services of their stockbroker.'

Phase two of "Invest for Success", which is available through www.ncbdirect.com, will be brought in next year and will include video content to complement the existing information.
