by Jason Gorringe, Tax-News.com, London

07 November 2007

Ireland's Department of Finance this week issued the official Exchequer figures for October - showing total tax revenue so far this year of EUR34.9 billion.

The figures also showed that non-tax revenue was at EUR450,632 at the end of October, and expenditure was nearly EUR36 billion.

The report also showed that Stamp Duty revenue was 16% below target at EUR2.7 billion, and CGT revenue was 13.4% below target at EUR1.3 billion, reflecting the slowing property sector.

However, income tax receipts were ahead of target at EUR10.3 billion - up 12.5% in the year to date, compared with a Government forecast of 9.3%.

The Exchequer returns for November are expected to be released just ahead of the official Budget, on 4 December.
