Income Tax Law Consultation Launched In Jersey
by Philip Morton, Investors Offshore.com

25 July 2008

Jersey's Minister for Treasury and Resources, Senator Terry Le Sueur, has launched a consultation on how non-finance, non-Jersey owned companies will contribute to Jersey tax revenues.

The purpose of the consultation is to understand how revenue could be collected from these companies under the new zero/ten corporate tax structure, due to come into force in 2009.

The Minister is interested in hearing the public’s opinions on applying a deemed rental charge on these companies.

Current estimations suggest that GBP4-GBP6mn could be collected in tax should a deemed rent be applied to non-finance, non-Jersey owned companies.

The consultation period is from Thursday 24th July to Friday 12th September.
