The Gibraltar Tourist Board is participating in the 23rd edition of the Seatrade
Cruise Shipping convention, the international exhibition and conference recognised
one of the leading cruise industry events.
The event, which opened on Monday 12th March 2007 at the Miami Beach Convention
Centre, Florida consists of four days of conference and three days of exhibition.
Over 950 companies and 100 countries are being represented at the convention.
The Gibraltar Tourist Board is representing the Port of Gibraltar at its own
stand in the cruise destinations pavilion, and is also represented as a member
of the MedCruise organisation.
MedCruise Senior Vice-President Albert Poggio is attending the convention, and
the Gibraltar Tourist Board’s Chief Executive, Nicky Guerrero is heading
the team manning the Gibraltar stand.
“Miami is the cruise capital of the world and our attendance at Seatrade
is important if we are to sustain the growth that Gibraltar is experiencing
as a cruise destination," explained Joe Holliday, Gibraltar Minister with responsibility
for the Port and Tourism.
"At this moment in time, in 2007 we are expecting 223 ships to call at
Gibraltar bringing an estimated 299,561 passenger to The Rock. Seatrade will
also offer an important opportunity for representatives of the Gibraltar Tourist
Board to network with the key industry players and for the promotion of Gibraltar
and it port," he added.
