Fidelity Investments,
largest US mutual fund company, is enhancing its Web
site with real-time news and an improved fund evaluator
to help individual investors pick funds, a company
spokesman said.
The real point
of it is to give the customer as many tools, both
online and offline, as possible and then the convenience
to use those tools, said Fidelity spokesman
James Griffin.
Starting next month,
the free Web site will have real-time news reports
as well as streaming audio and video from Dow Jones,
Reuters and SmartMoney.com. The site will also offer
a stock analyzer and sector tracker as well as tools
for bond investors.
The site, Research@Fidelity.com,
will also offer more research from other firms, such
as Ned Davis Research Inc. Fidelity's site already
offers research from companies like Lehman Brothers
Inc. and Standard & Poor's.
The new fund evaluator,
available from today, will allow investors to customize
a search of the more than 4,100 funds available through
Fidelity's supermarket. Investors can search based
on 13 different criteria, such as fund type, fund
company, and trailing performance, from a single screen.
They can pick Fidelity
funds, or non-Fidelity funds or a combination,
Griffin said.
Both the new research
site and the fund evaluator can be reached through
the Quotes & Research tab at http://www.Fidelity.com.
