Amid turmoil in the international e-gaming world, the Alderney Gambling
Control Commission resolved at its October meeting, which coincided with the
European i-Gaming Conference in Barcelona, to grant a further four Full eGambling
Licences.
These licences were granted to WagerWorks (Alderney) 6 Ltd, Asia Pacific Gaming
Ltd, World Poker Tour Alderney Ltd and ElectraWorks (Alderney) Ltd. The granting
of these licences followed the decision of the Commission in September to issue
Full eGambling Licences to the Alderney subsidiaries of William Hill plc and
Sportingbet plc.
Alderney’s Head of E-Commerce Development Robin Le Prevost commented:
“The granting of these 6 licences during the last two months brings the
total number of licences in issue to 25 and reflects the increasing value that
blue chip gambling organisations attach to meaningful regulation as it supports
their own corporate governance requirements.”
“Alderney, as an eGambling jurisdiction, has over the last year gained
significant momentum which shows no sign of slowing down. In fact, we may now
be the fastest growing first tier eGambling jurisdiction. This clearly demonstrates
that Alderney has a highly attractive offering for major eGambling operators
which includes modern legislation, high quality technological capabilities and
a proven business friendly approach providing a safe, secured and trusted jurisdiction.”
Robin added “Alderney can now count amongst its licensees some of the
top gaming operators from around the globe. They have recognised the value and
peace of mind that establishing their business in Alderney can bring to shareholders
and customers alike”.
