Deloitte's EU Survey Reveals Irish Pay Least Tax On Wages By by Jason Gorringe, Tax-News.com, London 16 December 2005 A survey recently conducted by 'Big Four' accounting firm Deloitte has revealed that Irish residents pay the least amount of tax and social welfare contributions among their EU counterparts. The Deloitte poll put the Republic in ninth place with regard to expenses for employers, revealing that the average wage cost of a worker in Ireland increased from EUR33,668 last year to EUR34,997 this year. The survey went on to reveal that the cheapest country for employers is Poland, where the average renumeration is EUR5,662, with annual take-home pay of just EUR3,296. Estonia and Slovakia are reportedly the next cheapest countries in terms of employer expenses, and the highest wage costs were recorded in Germany. .
