Centre of Economic Research for Monaco Holds First Meeting
The Centre of Economic Research for Monaco (CEPROM), an initiative set up following
the accession of Prince Albert II to help promote the economic interests of
the principality, has held its first seminar. The seminar, which took place on 18th October 2005 in the Royal Palace of Monaco,
was held in the presence of approximately twenty public figures from the Principality
and focused primarily on raising the level of "economic intelligence"
in Monaco. Since assuming the Monaco throne, Prince Albert II has stressed his commitment
to continuing the campaign, launched by his father, Prince Ranier, to crack
down on money laundering and improve the Principality's economic reputation
in general. The establishment of CEPROM forms a key part of this policy. "As I announced during my Accession speech, in order to ensure that our
country develops, I feel it is essential that new projects with high added value
are instigated; projects focused particularly on the development of knowledge
and intelligence," Prince Albert told the seminar. CEPROM is scheduled to hold a number of meetings over the coming months and
plans to discuss how to promote Monaco as a bridgehead for Chinese investment
into Europe. .
