It was announced this week that Carey Olsen has won the “Offshore
law firm of the year” award at the inaugural Chambers Europe Awards for
Excellence.
Held on 8th May, at the Hotel Arts in Barcelona, the evening was attended by
700 leading legal practitioners from around Europe.
Recognising those law firms with a pre-eminence across Europe, the awards also
reflected notable achievements over the past 12 months, whether this is outstanding
work, impressive strategic growth, or excellence in client service.
Carey Olsen beat five other short-listed offshore firms to claim the accolade
of “Offshore law firm of the year".
In judging the awards, Chambers focused particularly on “excellence and
responsiveness in service".
January’s establishment of the “best friends” relationship
with Maples and Calder was highlighted as a contributing factor to the win.
The firm’s
continued top tier profile, and individual lawyer recommendations, within the
Chambers UK and Global Guides were also mentioned.
Managing Partner of Carey Olsen in Jersey, Alex Ohlsson, collected the award
on behalf of the firm, and announced that:
"To receive this award from Chambers and Partners at their first Awards
for Excellence is industry recognition of which we are proud."
He continued: "It is a credit to the teams we have working in the Jersey, Guernsey and
London offices. The fact that “client service” is at the heart of
the award criteria is important for us as it underpins our overall strategy
of providing the strongest service possible in all our core jurisdictions."
He concluded by explaining that: "We
went down the “best friends” route rather than establishing small
presences in multiple offshore jurisdictions, as it strengthens our strategy."
