Held on 8th May, at the Hotel Arts in Barcelona, the evening was attended by 700 leading legal practitioners from around Europe.

Recognising those law firms with a pre-eminence across Europe, the awards also reflected notable achievements over the past 12 months, whether this is outstanding work, impressive strategic growth, or excellence in client service.

Carey Olsen beat five other short-listed offshore firms to claim the accolade of “Offshore law firm of the year".

In judging the awards, Chambers focused particularly on “excellence and responsiveness in service".

January’s establishment of the “best friends” relationship with Maples and Calder was highlighted as a contributing factor to the win.

The firm’s continued top tier profile, and individual lawyer recommendations, within the Chambers UK and Global Guides were also mentioned.

Managing Partner of Carey Olsen in Jersey, Alex Ohlsson, collected the award on behalf of the firm, and announced that:
