Bioconferences.com Organises First Major Internet Gaming Conference In The Caribbean
Press Release

17 November 2000

The Fourth Annual International Symposium on Internet Gambling Law and Management to be held November 26-28 at the Royal Antiguan Hotel in St. Johns, Antigua, is drawing participants from around the world. Participants hail from all parts of the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and the Pacific, North America, South America and Africa - the Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Dominica, Belize, Curacao, Peru, the United Kingdom, Germany, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Austria, France, Ireland, Portugal, Australia, Canada, the U.S., Malta, Gibraltar, the Seychelle Islands, Norfolk Island, South Africa and many more.

Meeting attendees will gather in Antigua, the current Internet Gaming capital of the world, to discuss Offshore vs. Onshore Internet Gaming: the Battle Heats Up. With many jurisdictions considering banning or heavily regulating Internet gaming, more and more Internet gaming operators have moved offshore to the islands of the Caribbean, Malta, Gibraltar, Norfolk Island and other locations.

Which jurisdictions offer the best environments for Internet gaming? What are the pros and cons of various jurisdictions? What's the current situation and prognosis for Internet gaming in Australia (one of the first jurisdictions to legalize Internet gaming, only to narrowly beat back a recent effort to establish a moratorium on Internet gaming)? How will proposed regulatory and tax changes in Antigua affect entities operating there? Will Antigua remain the Las Vegas of Internet gaming or be replaced by other jurisdictions such as Dominica, Costa Rica, Belize, Malta, Gibraltar, Norfolk Island?

Speakers include Joseph M. Kelly, SUNY College at Buffalo; Tony Coles, Partner, Jeffrey Green Russell, London; Marc Falcone, Bear Stearns; Gary Collins, Director of Gaming Operations, Antigua; Michael Tobin, Mohawk Internet Technologies, Quebec, Canada; John Walsh of Brannagh, Deputy Presiding Member, Norfolk Island Gaming Authority; Mickey Charles, President and CEO, the Sports Network; Julian Harris, Biddle & Co, London, UK; Fred Gushin, Spectrum Gaming, US; I. Nelson Rose, Whitter School of Law, and many other experts.

The Third Annual International Internet Gaming Innovator Awards will be presented at a luncheon on November 27th. The conference has drawn five major sponsors and many exhibitors. Sponsors are: Starnet, Cable & Wireless, Wagering.com, Casino Promote, and Casino International. Exhibitors include: Dot.com entertainment, Sports Network, Softnec, Internet Global Management, Internet Gaming Commission, Net Pro, Orbis and others.

While the headquarters hotel is booked, participants can still register at the nearby Rex Halcyon Cove hotel.
