Best-Known E-Brokers Lose Out In Price Survey

Ecom an independent research company affiliated to the UK's University of Leeds, has published a survey of on-line share-dealing prices in the UK. The UK's iDealing.com came out on top as the cheapest service for HINWI investors, undercutting competitors by as much as 75%. It offers the cheapest service in the UK for every category of investor, regardless of the frequency of trading or the size of the trade.

The survey looks separately at different levels of investor, and for the top tranche, beign investors with portfolios over about $150,000, making two trades of $15,000 per month, the top six ranking order for cheapness was:

1: iDealing.com (UK)
2. SelfTrade (French)
3. Comdirect (Commerzbank, German)
4. Xest (Charles Stanley, UK)
5. Sharepeople (UK)
6. James Brearley (UK)

Top names E*Trade, Charles Schwab and Halifax ShareXpress all came lower down the table.
