According to a Royal Gazette report, Bermuda’s Minister of Telecommunications and E-Commerce, Michael Scott revealed this week that more emphasis is to be placed on firms already based in the jurisdiction, as the government previously focused much of its previous marketing effort overseas.
“It has been the aim of the Bermuda Government to provide the best possible policy and legislative environment for businesses operating and hosting their E-commerce activities on the Island,” Mr Scott declared in a statement.
The department’s main objective, according to Mr Scott, is to ensure that key decision makers understand the role of Bermuda as an e-business destination, so that the jurisdiction figures on top of their list when consideration is given locating their e-business platforms.
“Local business interest and commitment to creating new business service models supported by innovative technology will drive global business to Bermuda’s shores,” added Mr Scott.
“This local innovation and intellectual capital will also play a major role in helping to position Bermuda as the cyberspace centre of the Atlantic,” he observed.
