The Bermuda International Business Association (BIBA) the Ministry of Finance,
the Bermuda Stock Exchange, and several other prominent Bermudian international
businesses have collaborated to produce a special editorial section, entitled
'Bermuda: The Best of Both Worlds', for SmartMoney, the American finance periodical
distributed by the Wall Street Journal.
Detailing the social and economic dimensions of the Island, the section includes
profiles of influential Bermuda-based business organizations with contributions
from Bermudians and non-Bermudians, including US Consul General Gregory Slayton.
The 16-page supplement also describes the advantages of domiciling in Bermuda
and the benefits of the Bermudian lifestyle.
"‘The Best of Both Worlds' truly gives SmartMoney consumers a candid
and stunning perspective into the myriad reasons why Bermuda is an ideal place
to not only do business, but also visit," commented Cheryl Packwood, BIBA's
CEO. "We couldn't be happier with the finished product, and we wholly expect
the reader to be equally satisfied. This is a rare opportunity for organizations
to learn about the unique value of setting up business on the Island, and after
reading the testimonial this special section provides, we hope businesspeople
everywhere will take advantage of all that Bermuda has to offer."
SmartMoney: The Wall Street Journal of Personal Business is an award-winning
magazine covering the world of personal, domestic, and international finance.
It has a total readership of more than 3 million worldwide. The Best of Both
Worlds also serves as a precursor to the Annual BIBA London Roundtable taking
place on 29 March.
Earlier this month, BIBA hosted a reception in Paris which featured a series
of panels moderated by notable experts in the fields of law, accounting, regulation,
politics, and finance as well as a special appearance by Paula Cox, the Bermudian
Minister of Finance who delivered a keynote speech. Delegates also had discussions
on hedge fund management, regulation and the Bermudian Stock Exchange, trusts,
and private wealth.
"We cannot be more eager to bring the success of the Paris Reception to
London, where we have had very positive results in the past," explained
Packwood. "We believe that the momentum from our work in SmartMoney will
help us to make a positive impact on the businesses participating in our Roundtable.
I aspire to speak on behalf of all Bermudians in communicating the pride we
have in our reputation as an ideal destination for the world's finest businesses.
This is what we plan to accomplish in London."
