Conyers Dill & Pearman (CDP), a Bermuda-based law firm with an international
network of offices, is strengthening its already powerful position in the offshore
investment sector with new, senior hirings of funds attorneys in its London
and Hong Kong offices.
CDP was established in Bermuda in 1928 and has more than 400 staff, with operations
in Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Hong Kong, London
and Singapore.
Although the investment fund sector has been growing worldwide at a rapid pace
for many years, offshore funds have grown disproportionately quickly by comparison
with their onshore counterparts; and this tendency has accelerated in the last
year or two as alternative investments have caught on with institutions and
the retail market. Professional firms specialising in funds business have seen
business rocket as a result.
CDP has recruited two lawyers to augment its London operation - Christopher
Johnson-Gilbert has been a corporate law partner at Linklaters since 1986, including
a spell in Hong Kong, and Kieran Loughran, who trained at Norton Rose and gained
experience at Ashursts, has spent the last four years at a law firm in the
Cayman Islands. Piers Alexander joins the Hong Kong office of CD&P after
many years of mutual funds and corporate law experience with Clifford Chance.
CDP specialises in company & commercial law, corporate litigation and private
client matters. Affiliated companies provide registered agent, registered office,
corporate director and secretarial services, as well as specialised company
management services. Conyers' global network of private trust companies undertake
a broad range of trust administration services for private clients and corporations.
