Antigua Defiant Over Online Gambling
by Amanda Banks, for LawAndTax-News.com, London

05 December 2005

Delivering his 2006 Budget last Wednesday, Antigua and Barbuda's Finance Minister, Errol Cort was defiant regarding the jurisdiction's online gambling industry, despite the ongoing dispute with the United States before the World Trade Organisation on the matter.

According to Cort, at least 10 new online gambling firms are set to commence operations in Antigua and Barbuda next year, in addition to the 14 such firms which are already in place.

The new firms are expected to creare around 500 new jobs and generate more than $2 million in gambling licence fees.
