AmLaw 200 Survey Reveals Law Firm Chiefs Cautiously Optimistic For 2006

The recently published annual AmLaw 200 Survey has revealed that the vast majority of US law firm leaders are optimistic regarding their firms' prospects in 2006.

According to the survey results, 89% of respondents expressed optimism with regard to the coming year, with just 11% stating that they were uncertain of what the future holds for their firm.

With regard to the US economy in general, 72% predicted slight growth over the coming year.

68% of those questioned for the survey stated that they expect profits per partner to grow more than 5% in 2006, whilst 27% anticipated that profit growth would be less than 5% per partner.

Many of the law firm heads questioned also suggested that litigation was likely to remain the top practice area, with 38% predicting that it was likely to be the fastest-growing practice area in 2006, whilst 30% cited corporate work.
