The government of Liechtenstein has announced that the 4th Liechtenstein Dialogue
will take place in Vaduz On 4 and 5 October 2007 under the banner of "Navigating
change: Success strategies for financial centers".
As in previous years, the primary goal of the event is to provide insights
into current questions relating to international finance, and to create an attractive
environment for exchanging ideas. This year’s edition of the Dialogue
deals with the needs of an innovative financial sector, the strategies of successful
financial centers in this regard, and the resulting future challenges for regulators.
According to Prime Minister, Otmar Hasler: "The Liechtenstein Dialogue
will again welcome high-caliber financial experts from the private sector, politics,
and academia. It will offer in-depth insights into current and future challenges
for international financial centers."
This year, the Dialogue will focus on several central questions: What areas of
business are especially promising, and what are the preconditions for their
rapid growth? What are the strategies of successful financial centers in establishing
themselves as attractive locations for innovative areas of business? What are
the specific future challenges for regulators in reacting to the increased competition
among financial centers and the greater diversity of demands from the private
sector?
The speakers at this year’s Dialogue include Guido Westerwelle, Chairman
of the Free Democratic Party of Germany (FDP) and Chairman of the FDP Parliamentary
Group in the German Bundestag, and high-caliber financial experts such as Michael
Zamorski, Managing Director, Supervision, Dubai Financial Services Authority;
Eduard Oswald, Chairman of the Finance Committee of the German Bundestag; Patrick
Farrell, Chief Executive, Irish Banking Federation; Franz-Hermann Brüner,
Director General, European Anti-Fraud Office; Eugen Haltiner, President, Swiss
Federal Banking Commission; and Angela Knight, CEO, British Bankers’ Association.
"In addition to the individual speeches and podium discussions, the Liechtenstein
Dialogue will again present the opportunity to establish and cultivate contacts
– an aspect of the Dialogue series that we believe to be of particular
importance," Hasler concluded.
